Travel to Port Arthur

Travel to Port Arthur Just 2 hour’s drive south east of Hobart is the Tasman Peninsula and the historic former penal settlement of Port Arthur.  Port Arthur a convict settlement dating back to the days when the English were exporting their criminals to Australia has now been carefully preserved to allow visitors to get a feel for the lives of the convicts who were incarcerated there between 1833 and 1877.  Now there are ruins that you can walk through offering insight as to how harsh life in the settlement must have been like during the early days of Australian colonisation. The rugged scenery of the Tasman Peninsula is magnificent with beautiful gum forests, undulating hills and stunning surrounding landscapes with numerous sites to enjoy including The Blowhole, Devils Kitchen and Tasman Arch and the fabulous view of Pirates Bay and the coastline from the lookout just before Eagle Hawk Neck.
